Redhill mains replacement

A22, Godstone Road - Purley resilience programme

As set out in our current Business Plan, we have made a pledge to reduce the risk of supply failures. By 2025, our goal is for 100 per cent of properties in our supply area to be supplied by more than one treatment works.

We are investing £10 million to lay new or improve existing pipelines between some of our key treatment works and pumping stations, to make sure we deliver on this promise and provide a more resilient service to our customers.

As part of this, we need to lay a new section of main along the A22 Godstone Road, Purley, next summer. To make sure this work is delivered as smoothly as possible we will be conducting some investigation works in January 2023.

We will be digging trial holes for three nights on Friday 27, Saturday 28, and Sunday 29 January 2023.  The investigation work will allow us to plan for the summer works more effectively, making sure they run as smoothly as possible, with minimal disruption. This work will be carried out by our delivery partner Clancy.

The trial holes will require a full road closure from 9pm to 5am on all three nights, finishing at 5am on Monday 30 January, but we will have the road fully open from 5am each day. Below is a diversion plan for the hours between 9pm-5am. We will also be closing Warren Road to help safely manage traffic in the area. The official diversion route and closure of Warren Road have been requested by the highway authorities.

We'll try to keep noise to a minimum while we work but due to heavy machinery we need to use, you may hear us working for short periods during the night.
