Woodmansterne Treatment Works upgrade

Woodmansterne Treatment Works upgrade

We're carrying out a significant redevelopment and upgrading of our Woodmansterne Water Treatment Works (WTW) off Outwood Lane, Chipstead, which includes the creation of a new soakaway lagoon on nearby land – this £22 million investment will help secure water supplies for existing and future customers throughout its supply area.

This important strategic project will provide greater resilience and flexibility within our supply network, particularly during periods of low rainfall or drought.

The redevelopment and upgrading work at Woodmansterne WTW, parts of which date back to 1905, will effectively increase output capacity by approximately 50 per cent, helping to meet the increasing water supply demands as the local population increases.

Date: December 2019

As winter approaches it’s now the right time to start planting the trees and bushes that form the landscaping plan at the Woodmansterne Treatment Works lagoon.

We’ve planted a mix of native trees, shrubs and bushes around the lagoon to provide a natural screen and to enhance the biodiversity of the site.

Once this is complete we will be erecting the stock fence.
