Hooley Lane - Redhill mains replacement

COVID-19 update

We are resuming mains replacement work that can be carried out in a safe way, in line with the Government’s latest advice. The safety and wellbeing of our staff and our customers is of the utmost importance to us and we have been able to implement the necessary extra precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Read more information about our response to COVID-19.

Hooley Lane mains replacement

We are investing in an important water mains renewal project in Hooley Lane, which forms the first phase of a wider programme of mains replacement taking place in Redhill over the next couple of years. This is essential to secure safe and reliable drinking water supplies for homes and businesses in the area, for many years to come.

The current water mains (some dating back to the 1890s) are no longer of sufficient size and are beginning to reach the maximum operating capacity, due to the amount of new developments in the Redhill area.

The project will involve laying approximately 1km of new main, upsizing the current network from 4" to 6" with an important connection needing to be made on Hooley Lane. Our Keeping your water flowing booklet explains the four stages needed to lay a water main and answers some key questions you may have.
