Tackling the amount of water lost through leaks is a priority for us, and we know how important it is to you.

We will provide a one-off allowance (subject to qualifying criteria, set out in our Customer Side Leakage Assistance Policy) where you’ve had a leak on your supply pipe.

We do not provide allowances for any other types of leakage. This might include leaks on your internal fixtures and fittings like, toilets and heating systems or leaks to any pipework you may have in your garden, like irrigation watering systems, ponds or pools.

In exceptional circumstances and at our discretion, we may consider applying allowances for other types of leakage and will review these cases on an individual basis. If you think you need more support with your bill and would like us to consider an discretionary allowance, please get in touch with our Customer Services team on 01737 772000 and choose option 1.

We suggest that you check the following points before applying for an allowance:

  • If you have insurance that covers you for the cost of the water lost through the leak.
  • If you do not have insurance that covers you for the cost of the water lost through the leak, we strongly recommend that you seek suitable cover to protect yourself in the future.
  • We will only provide a leak allowance on the first time your supply pipe leaks.
  • If your bill has only increased by a manageable amount, you can choose to pay for the increased water bill and hold your one-off allowance in case a more serious leak happens in the future.
