Woodmansterne Treatment Works upgrade

COVID-19 update

In response to the latest Government advice, we have stopped non-essential activity. As key workers providing an essential public service, our employees must continue to deal with emergencies in customers’ homes and in the roads across our supply area. This means all current and planned mains replacement work has been put on hold until we are advised to continue. For more information about how are responding to the COVID-19 outbreak click here.

Woodmansterne Treatment Works upgrade

We're carrying out a significant redevelopment and upgrading of our Woodmansterne Water Treatment Works (WTW) off Outwood Lane, Chipstead, which includes the creation of a new soakaway lagoon on nearby land – this £22 million investment will help secure water supplies for existing and future customers throughout its supply area.

This important strategic project will provide greater resilience and flexibility within our supply network, particularly during periods of low rainfall or drought.

The redevelopment and upgrading work at Woodmansterne WTW, parts of which date back to 1905, will effectively increase output capacity by approximately 50 per cent, helping to meet the increasing water supply demands as the local population increases.
