SES Water supports Run Gatwick

19/05/2023

Run Series collaborates with SES Water for another year to support its goal of eliminating 24,000 plastic bottles at its Run Gatwick event.

Scheduled to take place on Sunday 21st May, Run Gatwick will be offering a new 10K and 5K Charity Relay route, set against the backdrop of the renowned Gatwick airport flight path, participants will immerse themselves in an atmosphere teeming with aviation-themed excitement as they race against the planes taking off and landing on the restricted Perimeter Road.

In line with their commitment to sustainability, Run Series has once again partnered with SES Water to eliminate the use of plastic bottles during the event. By providing free tap water from standpipes and SES Water's innovative 11,000-litre tanker, The Quenchinator, all runners and spectators will have access to refreshing tap water throughout the event.

David Kelly, Founder of Run Series said:

“Once again we are delighted to be working with our friends at SES Water for this year’s Run Gatwick, hydrating our runners on lovely Surrey tap water as they race alongside live aircraft landing and taking off at Gatwick Airport.  We are very proud to continue our legacy of zero plastic sustainable running events with SES Water, long may it continue”

Tom Kelly, SES Water's Wholesale Director added:

We are thrilled to once again join forces with Run Series to reduce plastic use at Run Gatwick. At SES Water, our dedication to protecting nature and minimising our environmental impact is essential and we are pleased to contribute to the sustainability credentials of this race. By utilising our Quenchinator, participants will have the opportunity to hydrate themselves with tap water, eliminating the need for bottled water. We extend our best wishes to all runners and look forward to provide refreshment along the way."

SES Water actively contributes to the improvement of the communities they serve and play a crucial role in addressing broader social and environmental challenges, including climate change. Together with the wider water industry, we are dedicated to preventing the equivalent of four billion plastic bottles from becoming waste by 2030.

Spectators will have the opportunity to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Event Village, featuring an array of food and drink options and community stands.
