SES Water partners with local councillors to give back to the community this Christmas
SES Water has teamed up with two local councillors to help wrap and deliver festive hampers for some of its customers most in need of extra support at this Christmas.
Councillor Gayle Gander from Croydon Council and Councillor Shelly Newton from Reigate & Banstead Council joined teams at SES Water’s Head Office in Redhill to wrap and pack a selection of festive food, treats and presents into hampers for customers.
Generous donations towards the hamper contents were received from company partners Nutun, Oneserve and UK Search Ltd. Further partnership support was provided from: Sutton Citizens Advice, Energy Manage, Age UK Sutton, Surrey Community Action, Together for Sutton, Volunteer Centre Sutton, Christians Against Poverty, and Surrey Care Trust.
As part of the water company’s wider community partnership programme, its colleagues have been volunteering their time as part of a ‘Give A Day’ scheme, whereby they each support a local charity for one day a year.
This has included collecting money for Crossroads Care Surrey, a charity which provides support for unpaid carers – through a festive fundraising event in Banstead.
SES Water Chief Executive Officer, Ian Cain, said:
“We feel privileged to be able to spread a bit of joy to the community at Christmas, especially when this time of year can be a struggle for many. We’re here for our customers and it’s important for us to give something back and help improve lives.”
Councillor Gayle Gander said:
“I was delighted to be invited to help prepare and deliver hampers for several Croydon residents. Coming together in this way to bring some Christmas cheer to people who might be facing difficulties this Christmas was an important reminder of the power of community and the difference we can make when we support each other.”
Councillor Shelly Newton said:
“I'm proud to partner with SES Water to help bring some festive cheer to those in need within our community this Christmas. It's heartwarming to see local organisations and volunteers come together to make a real difference for our most vulnerable residents. Acts of kindness like this remind us all of the power of community and the importance of giving back.”
