SES Water bolsters sustainability commitment with senior leadership role

18/01/24

SES Water has strengthened its ongoing commitment to operating sustainably by promoting Grace Wood-Lofthouse to Sustainability Manager.

Grace joined SES Water after nearly ten years with Dalcour Maclaren, specialists in enabling utility and infrastructure clients to perform their statutory functions, where she managed several client portfolios across the southeast and led the delivery of challenging project components. Her background is formed of family farming in North Yorkshire and rural studies at Harper Adams University, providing valuable experience to assist SES Water with their ongoing and future plans. Grace’s promotion took place in November 2023.

SES Water’s customers reiterated support during its PR24 planning for additional investment to enhance the environment, building on the work the Company is already achieving, including:

  • Attaining The Wildlife Trust’s Biodiversity Benchmark certification at its Elmer and Fetcham Springs sites, with a third site undergoing certification assurance – being the only UK water company to do this
  • Decarbonisation of their operational fleet (with more than a third now electric and hybrid vehicles), water treatment processes and distribution network
  • Working with stakeholders across catchments to mitigate raw water quality risks and improve river systems

SES Water Sustainability Manager, Grace Wood-Lofthouse, said:

“I’m particularly encouraged by our customers’ value of their local environments, providing us with a greater ability to work across administrative boundaries to fully understand catchment challenges and develop interventions.

“Work starts with our own holdings, and it is particularly rewarding working with local partners to enhance nature conservation and access, protect local heritage, provide education opportunities and support local businesses at some of our key sites, beyond their operational functions.”
