A win for SES Water and its customers
Detecting leaks faster than ever before and reducing water wasted through them meant SES Water took home the win at the Utility Week Awards.
The annual event, which took place on 6 December in London, recognises the very best in UK utility companies and the water company, which supplies drinking water to parts of Surrey, Kent and south London, won the Innovation category for its fully smart network.
Technology across SES Water’s network allows the company to notice leaks within minutes of them happening, and often before they can be seen by the public.
It means the company can drastically reduce the water wasted through bursts, protecting customers’ supplies and the local environment.
SES Water’s Head of Strategy, Daniel Woodworth, said: “It’s great to be recognised for our work but the real achievement is the fact we’re on track to hit our leakage target of 15 per cent reduction by 2025.
“This not only helps keep our supplies secure for when customers need them, but also reduces the need for us to take more water than necessary out of local rivers.
“Water is vital for all living things so the less we waste the more we can help the local environment thrive.
“This isn’t just great news for us, but for other water companies too as we’re sharing our results with them so we can all work together to improve networks around the country.
“We plan to continue to build on the success of this project so our customers know we’re doing our bit to save water where we can.”
